Most surgeons repair a damaged ACL,
which Woods tore, with a single strand of tendon tissue,
usually taken from the patient's knee or from a cadaver.
Doctor Thomas Rosenberg pioneered replacing both of the
two parts of the ACL.
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament ACL prevents the shinbone (tibia) from sliding forward beneath the thighbone (femur). The anterior cruciate ligament is the primary stabiliser of the knee joint.
The ACL is made up of two functional bundles of tissue, the anteromedial (AM) and posterolateral (PL) bundles.
